I can see that some member on this list is tired to receive some endless argument of the same topic. Is it possible to modify the mail-out argument is a hyper text format that directs to the archieve of the messages. The advantage is we can back trace the topics discussion and the message each time sent out from the list is generally shorten I think (of course except those 'I agree' message). The disadvantage will be the administration of the mail-list will be more difficult. The storage is also a problem. The reason I write this suggestion is I am trying to keep all the message from the shirley-list but the mail-server always complain that my mail box is full. Of course that is not a good reason since I can download it to my own terminal. It only inspires me to do so. I wish you all can give some comment. Actually, I don't think your mentioned album is Shirley's "Shum Ling Sheung Ton," as I don't see it in any of HK's music store. :< Again, Polygram postpone the release of it... I can't remember how many times Polygram announced and postponed the release!!! Polygram is bad enough, as you see singers are moving out of Polygram now, grasshoppers, vivian lai etc. I see Chan Kei and Shirley's new song being plugged on TVB solid gold, TVB inserted some Shirley's old MTV phases into Chan Kei's MTV... I'm really delighted that I could really see Shirley on TV again. Although it was just some old MTV phases. I hope to record down the MTV next time. Chan Kei's new song "Fei Oi But Hor" was originally belongs to Shirley, I'm really hope it will be included in "Shum Ling Sheung Ton." I won't buy Chan Kei's album... if I did, it must because Shirley's new song "Fei Oi But Hor" is not included in "Shum Ling Sheung Ton." Still waiting for Shirley's NEW album. I just got it last weeek, and I'm having fun with it, if anyone want to chat with me about anything my uin is 684574, if you download the program from www.mirabilis.com then you'll know what I'm talking about. Have fun!!! I'm really disappointed at Shirley's new 88 series CD, the printing of the cover is pretty bad, and if anyone had bought one of those 88 CDs before, there's nothing in it, except the CD and the names of the songs. I think it's more worth it to buy the original "All-time-Favorite" which comes with pictures and stuff. Hey everbody, the new album of Shirley is going to be released. There is an ad. on the main page(1st page) of today's Sing Tou Daily which covered the whole page. I saw this at a newspaper store and I bought it immediately. It's lastly to our wishes now.
Don't forget to buy the CD. Oh... by the way, the CD contains 2 new songs and Talking to Oneself and the song called Moonlight Song which is a duet with the Grasshoppers in the World Song Album.

Yeah! The album was out now. There 14 songs inside. The "moonlight song" is a solo one, that means the Grasshoppers aren't in the song. I think "Infection" is a real good one, the lyrics and the song are both good, and of course Shirley sings well. The "Talking to Oneself" isn't the one I heard from the radio and TV, there's a little bit difference. I still haven't listened to all the songs inside 'cos I am so amazed by "Infection".

Also rumor said she would open her own studio and record new songs. She didn't answer this question as reporters asking that. Enclosed is a picture which is from the new CD (not the cover). It's usual for most PK record company in HK to postpone/delay/release remixes and remixes/release collections after collections for artists who don't/SEEMS won't sign a new contract. Yet, such moves do not violate their contracts. Like Grasshoppers, Vivian Lai, Andy Hui, Sammi Cheng ... whose fans suffered or is suffering from these kind of tortures. PolyGram is the best of the best at this kind of move, since they HAD wonderful artists for them to dispose of. And that's the exact reason why PolyGram now only have Jacky Cheung, Leon Lai (not very selling, last I heard) and Pricilla Chan (good reviews, but forgotten) the most selling albums. Didn't we already have a petition letter?! Now PolyGram has already released ONE album, it's perfect to shut our mouth with it. > how do you people know that polygram is using shirley to promote kay chan? > why is polygram giving shirley a hard time? i thought she left polygram. what > is up with her contracts now? is she still with polygram? How do we know?! We read newspapers, of course. Some of us (like me) are in Hong Kong, that's why we know and tell you guys in this list. Her contract has ended already. PolyGram releases her albums just to fulfill the remaining terms. Last I heard Shirley would sign Fitto. > WHO IS CHAN KAY? Don't post in All CAPS, it's like speaking loud and rude. Do U meant that "Talking to Myself" in Shirley's most current album is different from the one we have heard in early 1996, and the one she sang in her "Chinese New Year Concert" at Tuen Mun/Sha Tin? I know that "Song of Moon" is in a new version (without the voice of Grasshoppers?), but I don't know that even "Talking to Myself" is in a new version too. Dear Piyo, :) U know, sometimes when people press the "SEND" button more than once, then the same email message would be sent for more than 1 time, that explains why U received the same message for twice or even more. I would note that the "SEND" button for most email softwares (Eudora, Netscape etc.) is VERY sensitive. And from time to time I sent the same email messages for more than once, even I have pressed the "SEND" button only for once. When U see the same message for more than once, simply delete them, and discard them into the Trash Box. I think in email communication, receiving the same message for more than 1 time is somehow inevitable. Above all, this problem is not difficult to fix. (i.e. simply delete the repeated email messages is not a difficult task at all, right?) U shouldn't be too annoyed about this. All of us have the same problem from time to time. Hi, this is Raymond. Glad to heard that you people all like Shirley's album. But I have to tell you that the song "Why Us?" isn't a live version or a new version. The clappings are from the song before that cut. And the clappings are just in the song but not a live version.

The photos of Shirley are definitely one of her best. Yes, all the songs are connected with each other. Between each song there is a few sceonds of "transitional" music (just 1-3 seconds). The transition between Track#1 and #2, between #7 and #8, and between #13 and #14 are very nice. And this makes me recall the music of "Enigma". Hi everyone, Since this issue has come up more than once recently, I think I'd make some comments. I doubt anyone intends to send the same message, to a mailing list such as 'e list or otherwise, more than once. But sometimes, the same message does get repeated. It might be caused by some human factors (e.g. mistakenly hitting "send" more then once), or it might be caused by some technical problems. Given the complexity of the Internet, I find it amazing that it actually works at all! So with regard to duplicated mails, I suggest the following: If you see the same message more than once in your mailbox, just delete one of them! I'm sure it won't take you too much time to remove an ocassional repeated message. But if you believe the source of the problem lies with 'e list, please feel free to contact me, and I'll look into it. Dear Piyo, Sometimes it's not our fault. Due to the complexicity of the internet, we shall acidentially send the same message more than 1 time, EVEN we are sure that we have pressed the "send" button for only once. I guess it may be due to some known or unknown problems of the email software, or of your own internet server. If U receive the same email for more than once, simply delete it. In addition, sometimes emails are of the same title, but in fact the content may be different. If U really think that U cannot resolve the problem of "repeated email messages", I would highly recommend U to subscribe for a "digest" e list instead (ask the authors of the e space for information). After all, repeated emails can so simply be deleted, if U bother pressing a few buttons on your keybroad, and repeated emails would not do any fatal harm on your hard disk. I have been subscribed for the e list since September 1996, and I RARELY receive repeated emails. So I guess it's not the problem of the e list. I think it is a good idea that U check if there are problems with your email software or your internet provider. Hope this helps. :) Best, Frederick :) > > i agree i always get the same mail more than twice! and its really filling up > my mail box would you guys please be careful senting the mail. ----------------------------------- Date: Thu, 17 Apr 1997 17:40:52 -0700 From: Jo Jo To: Multiple recipients of the shirley-list list Subject: I have to apoligize... I don't like that style personally and not many friends of mine like it as well, probably we are Stephen Chow PPգ fans. Anyway, I think there are two reasons for this disaster: 1. Wong Ka Wai is not very good at editing the film after all actual filming. He just hasn't got a clude how to cut a film to make it short! Then he plays his so called artistic sense again, by cutting all Shirley's part and think the two male actors can take the role!? Also this shows he hasn't got a god damn clude of what he was filming!! If he did have a clude then he either didn't need Shirley or he could fit all parts of everyone into the correct length of the film. Some people may say this could happend in many other film, but I think not this case where he cut the whole part of an important actress/role!! 2. May be he has run out of advertising idea! She, together with her producer Hui Yun produced the albums (e.g. "Wild Flower", "Come Back to Love", "Begin Again", "Sandy '94") under a workshop titled "Star Factory" and these albums were distributed by Warner and later by Capitalist. He likes to his movie instead of making it, see how long he takes to make one movie, see how hard to understand his movies are. Who said he's the eastern Quantin Taratino (ops, sp?)? At least in Quantin's movie you know what's happened. In Wong's movie, no, you lost track of time, picture and place. in that event the reporter already asked why cutting Shirley's part and the movie maker (whoever he is) said the movie is too long and Wong has to make it fit its length (see, another fact that he likes to movie). You can see Jacky Cheung, Kit Chan, Sandy Lam and even the other artists are working hard and try their best in this show. I guess most of you are knowing the content of the story, but the songs in this show can give you more surprises and feelings. Kit Chan in this show can give many many surprises for the spectators. Everyone admire about her sounds, her performance and her songs. I got a great touch in one act about - Wolf (Jacky Cheung) reject Yuk Fung's(Kit Chan) love, and she is wearing her sister's red dress because of her sister was dead. She didn't mind to replace her sister's situation and she just want to please Wolf and to be stay with him till the end of life although she knew Snow(the sister-Sandy Lam)is Wolf's belove ever forever. Kit performs this character in very good, I can see many people cry in this act. All of the main actors and actresses sing well, especially Kit Chen (Indeed, she is one of my favourite female singers.). Do you all remember that many people hoped the replacement of Chan Wai by Shirley? I believe that Shirley could no doubt sing and perform well. But after understanding the whole story and watch the musical, I don't think Shirley would suit the character of Suet. It's because Suet is a young and innocent girl. I think that it's somehow strange for Sandy Lam to act as Suet too. Anyway, I believe that with her talent and skills, Shirley will soon get her chance to have her own concert again and have a bright future in performing arts. By the way, do you notice that there's not much or even no promotion for Shirley's new album? (Even Capital Artists have ads for Andy Hui!)
